Dec 1 Measuring, Dishwashing, Lab 1 Prep & if time Safety Poster Work

Kayser reminder- you are in the back left lab group (from teacher's desk).  Reminder for class ! Lesson - How to measure solid fats. Important as we prep for our first cooking lab.  View video below. How to measure butter, margarine and other solid fats 2 min video. Then review - RSS Foods Room - Dishwashing Protocol! As noted below.  Steps: 1. Put plugs in x 2 to each side of the sink. 2. Fill one side with hot water and a few squirts of dish soap. Fill only half way max. 3. Fill the other side with hot water. Ask for assistance re: having a cap full of bleach added for sanitization dip.  4. Wash dishes using scrubber in soapy sink.  5. Rinse dishes under water over soapy side. 6. Safety in the kitchen - a review - pay attention! There will be a quiz next week on hand washing, kitchen safety and dishwashing protocol! (which I will review below as well).  Safety In The Domestic Kitchen - Food Technology Select a Kitchen Safety item/aspect to focus upon for your group project. Sample list below: Kitchen Fires - What type of fire? All types? Progression? Focus on more than one type of fire and appropriate method of putting that type of fire out. Groups:  A - Knife Safety B - Hygiene - Prepping to Cook C - Washing Hands D - Allergy Safety and Awareness E - Hygiene - Kitchen Basics F - Kitchen Fires Wash Hands - Progression of how to wash hands. ALL basic Hygiene Methodologies re: prepping to work in a kitchen. Knife Safety - How to wash & store knives safely. How to move around the kitchen with a knife safely and pass a knife safely.
